Frequently Asked Dumpster Questions

Q: Are there any items I can not put into my container?

A: Absolutely. For the most part only solid waste material is allowed to be disposed of in the dumpster or roll off container. A few items that are not allowed are:

  • Radioactive substances.
  • Volatile compound or liquids.
  • Highly flammable material.
  • Explosives (e.g. fireworks).
  • Biomedical supplies.
  • Infectious materials.
  • Toxic or hazardous substances.

In addition free liquids are not permitted in the containers. Based on your location, different laws may apply to you. Make sure you understand fully what is permissible to dispose of if you think there is any question about it. Fully understand the user agreement before renting.

Q: Are there materials that can be disposed of for an extra fee?

A: There are some questionable materials that can be disposed of in a roll off container for an extra fee. Generally these items contain Freon (such as AC units and refrigerators) or are items that are not disposed of in landfills (i.e. tires and televisions).

Q: Can I get my dumpster today?

A: Generally, the time needed for dumpster delivery or roll off container delivery is 24 hours. However, depending on the situation and supplies, you may be able to get your dumpster within just a few hours.

Q: Is a permit or license required?

A: A dumpster or roll off container that is placed on a public property (i.e. a street or parking lot) must have a permit. Additionally, some municipalities require you obtain one for placement on private property as well. These rules are generally put in place so that neighbors don't need to deal with dumpsters that may be an eyesore for extended periods of time. Confirm your local laws before moving forward.
